| A hypnotherapy session is client centered. Each individual can interpret the same symbols and images differently, so in order for your therapy to be expedient, you and your hypnotherapist must form a bond of mutual trust. Hypnosis is not an instant magic cure, and it will only work for those individuals who are willing to make sacrifices and accept the necessary suggestions required for change. Open, frank dicussion of issues and problems facing your everyday life will hold valuable information a hypnotherapist can use to formulate the imagery best suited for your particular application. Your session may include questions of a personal nature, but your hypnotherapist is a trained professional who is obligated to keep your information confidential. Once the hypnotherapist is familiar with the way you absorb information, they will be able to communicate the proper images and direction easily accepted by your subconscious mind. The first question a potential client will sometimes ask is "how many sessions will it take before I see a change" and the most accurate answer I can give is " that, all depends on you". If you are prepared to commit and make a change in your life, results can come quite quickly. But often people will try hypnosis only because they are curious to see if it really works. Everyone has the ability to resist hypnosis, because you are always in control. This resistance however, is only a defense mechanism often used by people who are skeptical and non-committed. All hypnosis is self hypnosis, you allow your subconscious mind to become an active problem solver and focus your tremendous mental powers towards solutions, instead of excuses and vain empty explanations. Imagery is the primary language of the mind and because your mind will react to a real or imagined situation in the same manner. A skilled hypnotherapist can direct your mind in a way that can create a pleasurable memory from a painful experience or just the opposite, it can change a negative habit by removing the pleasure from a memorable experience. |
